Living Room Flooring Ideas

Living Room Flooring Ideas
There are a number of flooring types that you should definitely consider for your home, including epoxy flooring (and in the garage, concrete sealing). With that said, you may already know that the living room is one of the most important parts in a home, considering the fact that it is where the family usually gathers for family time – watching movies together, playing video games or just catching the nightly news together. In order to make the living room conducive for the above mentioned tasks, you need to be able to provide the proper flooring in order to do so. With that said, here are some living room flooring ideas (that are based according to how your family utilizes it) that you should definitely consider.

As a meeting area

Living rooms are also being used as a meeting area and gatherings; in this case, epoxy flooring is a must. This is so because usually living rooms that are being used as meet and entertain guests are being eaten on and usually come face to face with the shoes of the guest. Carpeted floors in this case should definitely be avoided if you can help it, considering the fact that cleaning up will definitely be a chore. Food stains and debris (especially ones that are wet) are very hard to clean in this area, so be sure to simply apply epoxy flooring and it will be good to go. Lastly, add the fact that if it is being used for meetings and other formal correspondences, comfort should only be provided by the furniture, not the carpets (if you put in both in the living room, it makes the area a conducive place for sleeping).

As a recreation area

Some families use living rooms as a recreation area, for indoor sports and games like air hockey, pool and even table tennis. With that said, again, epoxy flooring is ideal considering the fact that a floor needs to be inherently conducive for movement and physical activities – epoxy flooring provides just that. Though epoxy flooring is able to provide a non-stick surface that does not let dust dirt and debris make contact with the concrete, making it easier to clean, it provides ample friction to the floor that prevents and minimizes the occurrences of slips and falls. As an added plus, there are epoxy flooring types that let you decorate the floors.

For comfort

Though epoxy flooring presents a number of benefits, if the living room is being used for comfort, it is not recommended. In this case, carpeted floors create a conducive environment for rest and relaxation, considering the fact that aside from the cushions and the furniture, you will be able to rest up and lie on the clean carpet. This is highly recommended if you and your family mainly use it for resting up, catching late night movies or if you play video games together. Though you may also resort to putting in a large carpet instead of a whole floor. Just make sure to either limit or prohibit bringing in food in the area.
